Need a vacation, but first I need the car to take it in

My E39 found has departed from this world after the poor treatment I've given her. I find myself weary of work and require some time on the road. Help me choose my next car OPPO! I manage a stealership so I will never actually take said vehicle into my own name. Be reasonable, under 30k, prefer convertible. I'm officially over the hill now as of my birthday yesterday, so mid-life crisis vehicles are welcome. I live in Northern California and the sun shines from 7am-8pm, think accordingly.

Best idea thus far

I was thinking an E46 M3 convertible actually, that is fiddling about in the back of my head.

Alfa Spider would probably bring you a lot of motoring pleasure. E46 M3 isn't a bad idea either. Miata and C5 'vert are also good choices.

You want a convertible mid life crises car, automatic is the way they go. And a manual C6 Vert will be hard to find.

True, now that I think of it I don't think I have ever really done time behind the wheel of a C6

I have a severe distaste for the Miata. I have hills to climb and require power

I need to be able to sell this when I am done, and as nice as dat Alfa is no one here is lining up for them.

My best ideas:

996 Vert: easy to find one, especially a manual, and an all around good car. Nothing super special, but cool none the less

2010 Camaro SS convertible: sure, it's fat. Sure, it doesn't handle great, but let's be honest: when you have the top down and the burble of a 6.2 liter V8, that's hardly going to be what you're thinking about.

Mercedes SL: It's got a hard top, it's got a V8 or V12, depreciation kicks it's ass and it has German, erm, quality. It's still awesome, especially in bonkers SL600 or even crazier SL65 form.

E46 M3: it's one of the best all around cars ever made, minus the god awful SMG.

Classic thunderbird, Camaro, Mustang, etc: it has a big honkin American V8, no traction and the best character of any car.

Lotus Elise: does a Targa count?

SLK55 AMG: It's Miata sized, German built, V8 powered goodness.

BMW 135i: Cuz Twin Turbo baby bummer.

Aston DB7: yes, they are that cheap now a days. Who says you actually need to maintain a car?

Honda S2000 (even a CR!): it's pure, undulated driving goodness.

Yeah. Manual is possible. There aren't many. You do have dealership resources to use though.
